The Day My Life Changed

It was the 21st July 2016 I had just arrived at King Shaka Airport contemplating what had happened to me that morning.

I was going through a bad patch in my life.

Things weren’t going my way.

I was working a corporate job and my boss told me:

You need to take some time off.

You are unproductive.

Me? Unproductive?

I felt like this

Karl Oftebro The day that changed my life

I was all about being effective and efficient. Working long hours until you could hardly keep your eyes open. That’s what the working world is all about. Isn’t it?

That’s what we have been led to believe

I packed up my laptop and left the office. My head was spinning.

What happened to me? Where did I go wrong? Was I a failure?

My friends Justin and Roxy were in town, I met up with them for lunch. They were due to have their first child in 10 weeks. It was so good to see them and catch up.

How is it that we let these special relationships suffer over working longer hours in our job to make money for someone else?

It was so good to see Justin and Roxy it made the day a little brighter but as I started to hear all about what they had been doing and were doing it made me feel like I was doing nothing with my life. My head started spinning again.

One word of advice. Everyone is different. Stop comparing yourself to everyone around you.

Everyone is on their own journey. You don’t know what they are going through so always be nice to the people around you.

I said goodbye to Justin and Roxy and headed to King Shaka Airport. My sister Gigi and my brother in law Mike were coming to visit from the UK. My boss actually had really good timing telling me to take some time off.

Another word of Advice when you are going through a bad patch look to your family and close friends for support. I have the best family and friends that supported me all through this tough time.

Sitting at the airport waiting I had some time to kill. I started searching online for some solutions.

I was scrolling through YouTube when I came across a video from Mr Jim Rohn.

Jim Rohn said

We must all suffer one of two things:

The pain of discipline or the pain of regret

Don’t return to what hasn’t worked

A broken relationship ends for a good reason, we should never go back to the same thing, expecting different results, without something being different.

He ended his video with

To have more than you’ve got

Become more than you are

For things to change

You have to change

Daily Discipline

This really struck me. Was I really the problem?

Was I the cause of my failure? Of me not achieving my dreams?

I decided then and there that I was going to change.

I was going to make my life better.

I was going to start living my life my dream life.

A lot has happened since then.

I am proud to say that I quit my Job, I started my online business and I started living my dream every single day. It is all because I have learnt how to harness the power of Personal Digital Development.

21st July 2016 this was the day I discovered Personal Digital Development by Mr Jim Rohn, he has been instrumental in my life since then even though I have never met him.

Now think about this for a second here is a man I have never met but he has managed to make a massive impact in my life.

How is this possible?

This is the power of Personal Digital Development.

When I went through my bad patch in my life in July 2016 I came across this book on our bookshelf at home while visiting my Mum. It was a gift to my sister from my Dad in 2004. I recognized Jim Rohn from the YouTube Videos I had seen and I enjoyed his motivational quotes. I picked it up and started reading.

Jim Rohn

It made me think, was I missing a piece.

I read it so quickly I couldn’t put it down. I got to the end of the book and felt like I had just had the most amazing eye opening experience.

I felt motivated, energized and excited for the first time in a long time.

As I finished the book and looked at the back cover.

Two things stood out for me.

Tony Robbins – I had heard of this guy and I remember my Dad telling me about him back in the day.

The other thing that I noticed was that he left a link to his website

www.jimrohn.com

So I typed the url into my laptop and look what I found

Jim Rohn Website Screenshot

I immediately signed up for his secrets to setting exciting goals, I was already excited and now Jim was going to help me even more.

I loved his goal setting secrets so I went back to the site to find out more about Jim.

I noticed right after goal setting was Personal Development.

I had never heard of this apart from seeing the Personal Development section in the book store and thinking to myself don’t ever let yourself go in there. That will be a low point in your life.

So I avoided this scary topic.

I scrolled down on his website to find

Jim Rohn One Year Success Plan

I got even more excited. This was my chance to be successful. This is my chance to change.

This is my chance to start realizing my dreams. I signed up for the Jim Rohn One-Year Success Plan.

For a small price I got access to a full year plan on how I could become successful.

2 Years Later I am writing this blog post from my Laptop in a coffee shop.

I have quit my job, no boss to tell me what to do.

I have achieved my Goal of Freedom, I can work when I want where I want on my own terms.

I have started my own Business doing what I love, I have already helped 1072 people learn how to create their own website.
